My name is Tim Leonard Trömer and I am 16 years old.
The fascination of 2.4 sailing is for me to sail tactically and technically at a high level, but also with a lot of wind, if you can clearly see that it is a water sport. In the summer of 2017 I spontaneously climbed into a boat in Plau, at the Plauer Hai Live, and got out of the car enthusiastically after a long trip around the lake.
I learned to sail classically in the Opti and took part in regattas for 3 years with a great regatta opti from the Stade sailing club. I trained on the other side of the Elbe at the Mühlenberger Segelclub (MSC). Looking back, that was a good time.
Since my father has been attending regattas in the 2006mR irregularly since 2.4, I have long been familiar with the class. In autumn 2017 I sailed my first 2.4mR regatta with a boat from the Plauer Hai Live, and was very enthusiastic afterwards. In winter 2017/18, suddenly the call came from the manager of the German Disabled Sports Association, Bernd Zirkelbach, whether I can imagine participating in the Para-Sailing World Championship in Sheboygan / USA. He didn't need to ask twice. In September 2 the time had come. After 2018 week of intensive preparations on site and training with the multiple world champion and Olympic champion Heiko Kröger, I took a place in the midfield. Now it can continue with regattas in 1mR.
